Ordering a Transcript

A transcript of a court proceeding may be ordered by directly contacting a transcriber from the list of Approved Transcribers below. 

Rates

Transcribers may collect fees for transcripts.  Maximum rates for transcripts are set by Judicial Conference of the United States and posted at https://www.uscourts.gov/court-programs/federal-court-reporting-program. Fees must be paid directly to the transcriber.

When a transcriber delivers a transcript to the ordering party, the transcriber is also required to file a certified electronic copy to the Clerk of Court.

Restricted Public Access Period and Redaction Requirements

A filed transcript will generally not be available in CM/ECF for 90 days to allow for inspection and redaction. Those interested may view the transcript on a public computer in the Clerk’s Office. Fees apply.  Please see https://www.cob.uscourts.gov/fees for current fees. Audio recordings will generally be provided via email. 

Attorneys:  E-file a request to the relevant case and pay the appropriate fee using the Miscellaneous event, “Request for Audio of Court Proceeding (fee).”
