Federal court records are available electronically via the PACER service. Registered users may be charged a fee based on the amount and type of information accessed in a calendar quarter. For more information on fees, please see PACER Pricing: How Fees Work and Options If You Cannot Afford PACER Fees.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Courts are authorized to provide PACER fee exemptions to eligible persons or organizations for limited purposes.
Who is eligible for a fee exemption?
Indigent persons, bankruptcy case trustees, individual researchers associated with educational institutions, courts, and 501(c)(3) not‐for‐profit organizations are eligible for fee exemptions if the applicant demonstrates the exemption is necessary to avoid unreasonable burdens and promote public access to information.
How do I request an exemption?
Complete and submit the Fee Exemption Request Form to the Clerk’s Office. Incomplete applications will not be considered. If you seek a fee exemption for your pending case, do not use this Request Form. Instead, you must file a motion for fee exemption in your case.
Can I request exemptions from multiple courts?
Yes, but these requests are handled by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. Complete and submit a Multi-Court Fee Exemption Request Form to that office.
